I give you: The Really Fancy French Muffins that I can't Pronounce!

I know, that title was my best yet!

So, today I made financiers.

These are super easy to make, and have so many assortments of options!

Financiers were created in the 1800s. These mini/"healthier" cakes are made up of almond meal and egg whites. You can put little surprises in the middle of these delights to the mouth. Including, raspberries, blueberries, chocolate chips, nuts, and more!

The recipe was created by Mardi Michels. She wrote a French cook-book that I used. (In the French Kitchen with Kids) This book has a great assortment of recipes! 5/5 from Sasha!

Sasha's Rating Scale:

There are 5 parts of food and I use all of them in my Rating Scale.

First there is taste. Taste is the main feature of food. Why eat it if it doesn't taste good? (No offense broccoli)

Second is appearance. A good looking plate invites the brain to think, it must taste good if it looks good!

Third is Texture. If its too grainy or to squishy why risk the pain of an gross feeling inside your mouth?

Fourth is smell. Yum! Mom made huckleberry ice cream! Or, Ewww I smell the asparagus! A lot of feeling comes from smell.

Fifth is the overall GREATNESS of the dish. You can feel all the hard work, beauty, delish expertise, and the wonder of how it was made.

I will use the Rating Scale often, so feel free to look back at this!

Financiers

1. Preheat the oven to 400*F

2. Beat 4 egg whites until foamy

3. In another bowl whisk 3/4 cup of sugar, 1/2 almond flour, 1/3 cup of flour, and 1/4 teaspoon of salt.

4. Fold dry ingredients into the egg whites.

5. Fold the cool, melted unsalted butter (one cube)

6. Spray, and fill mini muffin pan

7. Gently add a surprise( paragraph 3) in the middle

8. Bake for 10-12 min

9. Put Financiers on a cooling rack

10. When cooled, add confectioners sugar on top

Step 2

Step 4

A heavenly chorus for the final product!
                                                          Again...
                                                  And again!
                                                 4/5 from Sasha!
The 1 point deduction is because they are very delicate.
                                                Overall these are AWESOME!

Bakers tip:
Always read through the entire recipe first. For example... You have 20 mins before you have to go to your friends house, when you get to step 5 which says, Refrigerate Overnight.
As you can see reading through your all important recipe is key.

Welp, I guess that's it!

  3. Sasha, your number one fan here. If you need someone to taste test those, I know a gal. :) Charming. Lives in WJ. Also, the rating scale is top notch! I might adopt this scale for all of my baking needs. :)

  4. Sasha, FANTASTIC! You definitely have a gift of writing. Great capture sentence "I give you: The Really Fancy French Muffins that I can't Pronounce!" SO SO GOOD. I loved your 5 part rating scale. I think I will have Jed rate my next meal using your 5 part scale. That should be fun. I don't expect to get great scores especially in the appearance category. My food usually tastes better then it looks. :( , but not much better. Loved the history lesson too. I can't wait until your next blog!!!!!
